Saif is not the one to get into brawls: Salman Khan

Salman Khan lashes out at media for its coverage of Saif Ali Khan incident.

Salman Khan is back from Cuba after shooting for 'Ek Tha Tiger'. The actor who happens to be the face of History channel, unveiled its new initiatives on Friday afternoon in a suburban five star. Looking a tad tired though fit as ever, the Bodyguard also used the platform to guard his good friend Saif Ali Khan against accusations of assaulting South African citizens.

In an exclusive interview with Renuka Vyavahare, Salman Khan speaks on his health, Saif controversy, tv projects, endorsement deals and his past spats!

With the recent Shah Rukh and Saif episodes, are Salman Khan's infamous brawls a thing of the past?

My franchise has been outsourced. Other people are making 'history' now. Saif did it yesterday! Besides you get beaten up and you are hated for that, you beat up and you are still hated for that! (smiles)

You never clarified controversies that surrounded you. What makes you come out and defend Saif?

I had my family member Malaika, Amrita at the table with Saif where this whole incident happened. All I am saying is, Media should have gotten to the root of the issue instead of simply writing what few people from South Africa told them! Media knows Saif for the last 18 years! Does he have the reputation of getting into brawls? I have been seeing news for the past 2 days and its shocking how media has been going on and on about the allegations against Saif. Media should go into details. How many journalists published Saif's statement? All I am saying is, first find out what happened and then publish what you want to.

Are you saying Saif has been targeted because he is a celebrity?

Its always been us. If media is so interested in writing about brawls, why don't you just go stand outside nightclubs, restaurants and keep reporting what happens inside? Its disgusting. Press has never been too kind towards the actors. Media likes spice and thus this kind of news.

Apparently Dabangg 2 satellite rights have been sold out for Rs 48-50 crore!

My brother Arbaaz will know about this better.

You are the face of 'History channel'. They would be starting a show called 'Greatest Indian ever'. Who would you vote for?

Filmstars and Sportsmen do not qualify for this according to me. We are popular and that helps us reach people but there are those who work for the society and humanity and are not mentioned by media owing to TRPs! We actors just act and don't get time for anything else. Mother Teresa, according to me would be the Greatest Indian, though she wasn't born here. She has done a lot for the society. Hopefully I do my bit through my charity.

How is your health now?

I am perfectly fit and healthy. No problems at all.
