Gujarat riots: Zakia Jafri to get SIT report in a month

AHMEDABAD: A local court on Wednesday ruled that Zakia Jafri should be given a copy of the special investigation team (SIT) report on the 2002 Gujarat riots cases in a month. The court acknowledged the right of Zakia Jafri to access the SIT report. The court said that Jafri should get a copy of the SIT report, along with all other relevant documents in the case, by March 15.

Zakia Jafri was seeking the SIT report in the Gulbarg Housing society massacre case.

However, the Ahmedabad court said that social activists Mukul Sinha and Teesta Setalvad would not be given copies of the SIT report. "They don't have locus standi in the case," observed the court.

Tanvir Jafri, son of ex-Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, said that he was happy with the court's decision.
