On opening the Google homepage, users are greeted by a small boy holding a card. Hover over the Doodle and comes the message, "Happy Valentine's Day! 'Cold, Cold Heart' performed by Tony Bennett courtesy of Columbia Records and Sony/ATV."
A click on the play button, starts the loves story in which the boy tries various ways to win his girl's heart who is shown skipping. Helping him in his endeavour is Google, as he is shown Googling seemingly to find tricks too woo her. He tries it through numerous gifts like flowers, chocolates etc. However, fails. Finally, he joins her in skipping, and succeeds in melting her heart.
As the video ends, users are redirected to a page carrying Valentine's Day related links.
Celebrated on 14th February, Valentine's Day honours saint Valentine who secretly performed marriages of young Roman soldiers during the reign of Claudius II, who believed that unmarried men made better soldiers. While there are several versions of Valentine's Day tale, this one is most accepted.
Google Doodles are the decorative changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists and scientists. The first Google Doodle was created by Larry Page and Sergy Brin in the year 1998 to mark the celebrations of the Burning Man Festival. Google currently has over 1000 Doodles.
Google recently revamped its Doodle which site features over 1,000 doodles, some of which include a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and links to the interactive versions.
