Is your husband The One?

When and why do women feel the need to settle?

When Natasha went out with her couple friends and kids, she enjoyed their company but occasionally felt that pang when she saw the mothers feeding their kids, the husbands carrying the children and showing them little sparrows on the trees. She wondered if she could switch places and also lead a life happily every after.

Like Natasha, many 35 something women loathe to admit, but probably agree that more than a career what she really wants is a husband and by that extension a family! Actor Pooja Bedi says, "Women now divorce at 40 and get married at 50 and still lead a happy life." Filmmaker Tanuja Chandra says she is ready to wait till forever as long as she does not fall in love. The famous dialogue from Yash Chopra's Dil to paagal hai, where Madhuri Dixit's friend says, "Love will happen, you take the plunge first." Soul mates are discovered in husbands you settle for. So what exactly a woman is ready to let go off when she decides to settle for Mr Good Enough? Diana Hayden says, "Some of the fundamental qualities like mental wavelength and respect cannot be let go off."

According to psychiatrist Darshan Shah, "Many women who are not able to endure the pressures of loneliness do give up. It depends a lot on who you are as a person." Nandana Sen says, "I'd never 'settle'". While you could compromise on looks, bank balance or educational qualifications, never compromise on trust and love.Unless he treats you with love and respect, he's clearly NOT Mr. Good Enough!"
