Ramesh Taurani sues Deepika Padukone

He called her "unprofessional". And her action "unethical". But Race 2 producer Ramesh Taurani is still not satiated.

On Thursday, the filmmaker has filed a complaint with CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes Association) against Deepika Padukone, who left his project after shooting for it for six days.

CINTAA, in turn has sent out a prompt message to Deepika, informing her about the complaint filed by the filmmaker.

A source close to Taurani told us, "He did not want to take such an extreme step. He waited for Deepika to change her mind. But she was adamant. She was not interested in doing Race 2 anymore."

According to the rules and regulations of CINTAA, if an artiste fails to respond to a complaint, the case gets forwarded to FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees). And then, if the artiste turns a blind eye to FWICE's decision, he/she is liable to face a NCD (Non-Cooperation Directive).

Explaining this procedure further, senior producer Pahlaj Nihalani said, "If Taurani has filed a complaint against Deepika and he has a contract, she will have to honour the dates which she had allotted to him. If she has given the same dates to any other producer, she cannot shoot for the other project."

However, a close friend of Deepika suspected the existence of any such contract. "The only paper Taurani had given Deepika mentioned that the film would be completed by September 2011. We are in February 2012. Is it anywhere near completion? No. Then why is Taurani creating such a fuss?"

Explaining Deepika's course of action, the friend added, "She will not return to Race 2. She will present her case to CINTAA soon. Both parties will be heard. She will return the signing amount soon. And as for the compensation, she is open to discussions."

When contacted, Taurani sounded perturbed and rather irritated. He said, "Talk to Deepika if you've heard that she doesn't want to return to my film. But please leave me alone."

At the time of going to the press, we heard that Deepika had agreed to meet CINTAA General Secretary and FWICE President Dharmesh Tiwari who revealed that the matter was being looked into.
